Singapore, 1 October, 2015 – The grand trophy at the Asian Television Awards has a huge tag to its reputation and this year is no exception. The Asian Television Awards 2015 committee has unanimously selected Changle Liu, Chairman and CEO of Phoenix TV to be awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award.
This Award honours a senior industry professional whose contribution to Asian television has significantly influenced the development and set trends at the forefront of the industry. Liu founded Phoenix TV in 1996, which now operates six satellite TV channels and has merged many other business fronts, including new media, outdoor LED, publishing, radio broadcasting, weekly magazine and education. Phoenix TV is a listed company in the HK Stock Exchange. Its new media subsidiary IFENG.COM also went public in NYSE in 2011.
Highly appraised by his peers, Liu graduated from the Beijing Broadcasting Institute in the 1980s and worked for the China Central Radio Station in succession as journalist, editor, commentator and director of the Military Editorial Room.
He has been the recipient to numerous awards including “Wiseman of the Media Industry”, “Top 10 Most Innovative Media Entrepreneurs in Mainland China”, Leader of Global Mandarin TV Program Providers” and “Outstanding Figure in Media Branding” just to name a few.
In June 2015, Mr Liu was appointed as honorary academician of United International College founded by Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University.
He was also appointed a Justice of the Peace by the government of the HKSAR, and was later awarded the Silver Bauhinia Star by the government. The City University of Hong Kong has also awarded Mr Liu an honorary doctoral degree in literature. He has been the Chairman of the iEMMYs Festival since 2005, an event which is run by the prestigious International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Mr Liu was appointed as honorary chairman of “World Chinese-language Media Co-operation Alliance”. He continues to inspire the younger generation with his role as a visiting professor and director of the board at a number of mainland universities, as well as a doctoral adviser at Communication University of China.
His experience and contribution to the industry sets him apart from his peers regionally and internationally.
